About Us

The Rocky Mountain Chapter was founded in 1991 when a group of people with ALS, their families and other concerned citizens formed an organization to provide services and support to people in Colorado afflicted with ALS. Until that date, there were few resources available in the state for those with ALS, their families and caregivers.

Between 1991 and 1996, The Rocky Mountain Chapter’s volunteers acted as volunteer staff for the organization that worked to organize ALS support group meetings and run a variety of special events to fund the purchase of much-needed medical equipment for ALS patients.  With hopes of informing the ALS community about the activities of the Chapter and educating others on the disease, this volunteer group also began publishing a newsletter in 1993 entitled The Voice.

In 1997, the local Chapter affiliated with The ALS Association, a national network of professionals dedicated to providing greater services to the ALS community and funding for ALS-specific research.

The ALS Association - Rocky Mountain Chapter currently provides services to people with ALS living in Colorado and bordering states.  We have a variety of services available to help improve the quality of life for those living with ALS and the community around them.  All services are provided free of charge, and include:
